Boiler Maker/Welder for Outage Season (Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast)

Helfrich Brothers Boiler Works is looking for Boiler Makers/Welders to join our Outages Team. The successful candidate must be able to meet both the physical demands and technical skills of this job and be prepared to travel to project sites and spend long spans of time away from home.

Responsibilities

  • Making, installing, and repairing boilers
  • Reading blueprints, casting pieces and bending
  • Welding and Bolting pieces together
  • Testing boilers & performing routine maintenance
  • Assisting code welders & rigging
  • Working with a variety of tools and use rigging
  • Working during forced outages/emergencies (day or night shift)
  • Fabricating and assembling metal structures
  • Reading and interpreting diagrams, sketches, blueprints
  • Performing jobs safely while adhering to all safety guidelines
  • Demonstrating professionalism

Physical Demands

The following physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform this job: 

  • Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs., strength, coordination, and manual dexterity
  • Standing, walking, sitting, using hands, reaching with hands and arms, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, climbing, balancing
  • Talking, hearing, and ability to adjust focus for close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, employees are routinely exposed to:

  • Moving mechanical parts
  • High, precarious places
  • Fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals

Work Force Development Specialist

Work Force Development Specialist

The Work Force Development Specialist plays a key role in ensuring staffing requirements are met by recruiting and selecting qualified skilled candidates to work for Helfrich Brother’s Boiler Works. The Work Force Development Specialist is responsible for all aspects of staffing including recruiting skilled techs, evaluating job candidates, and building networks to attract qualified candidates. In addition to recruitment, the Work Force Development Specialist is responsible for the development of Helfrich Brother’s employees including managing the Helfrich Training Center. This position will have an estimated 40-50% travel required.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for developing a pipeline of qualified applicants for all divisions of the company through several strategic alliances such as Trade Schools, State and Federally funded adult re-educations organizations, community centers, job fairs, unemployment agencies
  • Community outreach
  • Apprenticeship programs
  • Increase employee satisfaction
  • Responsible for coordinating Training Center in Lawrence, MA to further develop current Helfrich Brother’s employees.
  • Work with Helfrich Brother’s employees to increase employee retention and reduce turn over.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with internal and external parties to ensure staffing goals are achieved
  • Serving as a liaison with multiple institutions which can include but not limited to:
    • Attending Job fairs
    • Participating in Community recruiting events
    • Represent the company at Community outreach events and campus events
    • Social Media and marketing
    • Community job programs
    • Job board Sourcing
    • Creating networks with trade schools or colleges

Position Includes but not limited to:

  • Manage recruiting: interviews, background checks, drug test, document verifications to include onboarding process.
  • Travel to trade shows / job fairs
  • Off – hour availability
  • Other duties as assigned Education/Skills/Experience:
    • Advance degree preferred or multiple years of trade experience.
    • Ability to work independently and take initiative
    • Strong verbal and communication skills
    • Excellent time management and multitasking skills
    • Must be able to develop strong recruiting strategies
    • Must be able to identify sources and build networks
    • Strong negotiation skills
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Must be able to maintain and source through job board resume’s

Work Environment:

Work will be performed in an office setting but can be at a temporary remote location, while performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; work in high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outdoor weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration.
